Dissociation

Sometimes, when life feels too overwhelming, your mind has a way of protecting you by “checking out.” This might look like feeling far away, numb, disconnected from your body, or like things around you aren’t quite real. Dissociation is not a sign that something is wrong with you—it’s a sign that your system has been doing its best to keep you safe.

In therapy, we approach dissociation with compassion and patience. We’ll explore what helps you feel grounded and safe, at a pace that feels right for you. Over time, we can gently reconnect with the parts of you that had to step back, so you can feel more whole and present in your life
