Perinatal experiences

Pregnancy and the postpartum period can stir up a wide range of emotions — joy, excitement, fear, exhaustion, and sometimes deep sadness or anxiety. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) include depression, anxiety, OCD, and mood shifts that can happen during pregnancy or after birth. These experiences are common, and they are not your fault.

In therapy, we, at Root + Bloom, welcome and affirm all birthing parents — including mothers, trans parents, and nonbinary parents — as well as non-birthing partners who may also be impacted. Together, we’ll create a safe, compassionate space to talk openly about what you’re going through, find tools for coping, and rebuild trust in yourself as you adjust to this new chapter.
